Chicago Center for the Performing Arts 777 N Green St April 8-April 15, 2016.
Passing Strange, a Tony-winning Broadway hit tells the coming-of-age story of a rebellious young, black L.A. musician. On the verge of adulthood, he is rebelling against a loving, church-going family and breaking out on his own in the early 80s to express himself as an artist and search for "the real" in Amsterdam and Berlin. Funny and sincere, it is a tale that also explores the limits of cultural identity and artistic integrity. Sex, drugs and art come to the stage in a completely new way in the rock musical. Audiences become immersed in the world of the play as they stand and walk amongst the set and cast as the story unfolds.
