about
My practice explores the intersection of music, nature, and spirit through mixed-media collage
As an artist working with experimentation, I am drawn to jazz musicians as central figures in my work because jazz itself embodies improvisation, layering, and dialogue-qualities that mirror my creative process.
Growing up, I listened to the musicians in my family and my Grandfather's reel to reel bellowing out the sounds of Miles, Nina, Coltrane and others. I aim to create images that are as dynamic and resonant as the music that inspires them.
By layering and orchestrating disparate elements -archival imagery, abstract forms and color-the visual patterns coexist in harmony and the resulting compositions are not static portraits, but visual improvisations shifting, rhythmic collages that seek to echo the syncopation and spontaneity of the music and the spirit of the musicians.
This collection of collages celebrates jazz as a living, breathing force, one that, like nature, is constantly evolving, adapting, and finding new ways to resonate.
